The question nobody else asks

Two ways to get stamped concrete. Only one involves a jackhammer.

Most stamped concrete companies in Toronto quote you one thing: rip out what you have and pour new. We do that too — but we started in repair and resurfacing, so we look at your existing slab first. If it's structurally sound, a stamped overlay gets you the same finish without demolition, at a fraction of the price.

Path One

Stamped Overlay — over your existing concrete

A polymer-modified overlay applied on top of your sound existing slab, then stamped and coloured. Same stone, slate or brick look as a new pour.

  • No demolition, no disposal, far less disruption
  • Typically done in 2–3 days
  • Roughly half the cost of tear-out and re-pour, often less
  • 3-year written warranty on overlays

Path Two

New Stamped Pour — full replacement or new installation

When the slab underneath has failed — broken through, sunken base, major heaving — or when you're building a brand-new driveway, patio or pool deck, we form, pour and stamp fresh concrete.

  • 6-inch reinforced pours for driveways, proper base prep
  • Full choice of pattern, texture and integral colour
  • Decades of service life when installed and sealed correctly
  • Written warranty, terms in your quote before you sign

Which one is right for yours? Text us three photos and we'll tell you — honestly. If the cheaper path does the job, that's the one we'll recommend. We do both, so the recommendation isn't shaped by what we happen to be equipped for.

Patterns & finishes

Popular stamped patterns for GTA homes

These are the patterns Toronto homeowners ask for most. All are available in both new pours and overlays, with integral colour, antiquing release and a protective sealer.

Ashlar SlateLarge rectangular stones with natural slate texture. The most requested pattern for driveways — clean, upscale, timeless.
Random FlagstoneIrregular stone shapes for a natural, organic look. Beautiful on patios and pool decks where you want soft edges.
CobblestoneOld-world European charm. Works especially well on walkways, borders and front entrances of traditional homes.
Herringbone BrickThe look of clay brick without the shifting, weeds and repointing. Popular for porch landings and walkways.
Wood PlankRealistic wood-grain texture with none of the rot. A favourite for covered patios and pool surrounds.
Seamless TextureNatural stone texture without grout lines. Subtle, modern, and the easiest finish to shovel in winter.

Colour is built in two layers — a base integral colour plus an antiquing release that settles into the texture — so the finish has depth like real stone, not a painted-on look.

Where stamped concrete works

Driveways, patios, pool decks and more

Stamped concrete driveways — the biggest curb-appeal upgrade per dollar. One solid reinforced surface, no joints for weeds, no stones to shift or sink. Poured at a minimum 6 inches and reinforced, so it carries vehicles for decades.

Stamped concrete patios — custom shapes, proper drainage pitch, and a finish that looks like flagstone at a fraction of flagstone money. Random flagstone and wood plank are the most requested patio patterns.

Stamped pool decks — textured finishes that grip when wet and stay cooler underfoot than pavers, with a non-slip additive in the sealer where the surface will see bare feet and water.

Porches, steps & walkways — a stamped entrance sets the tone for the whole front of the house. Cobblestone and herringbone brick suit traditional homes; seamless texture suits modern ones.

The honest comparison

Stamped concrete vs. interlocking pavers

The two are compared constantly, so here's the straight version — including the one thing interlocking genuinely does better.

Stamped ConcreteInterlocking Pavers
CostTypically 20–40% less installedHigher material and labour cost
SurfaceOne solid slab — nothing shifts or sinksIndividual stones can settle and heave
Weeds & antsNo sand joints, nothing grows throughJoints need sanding and weed control
Snow shovellingSmooth continuous surfaceShovel catches on edges and lips
RepairsCracks need professional repairSingle stones can be swapped out — genuine advantage
MaintenanceReseal every 2–3 yearsRe-sand, re-level, weed joints

For most Toronto homeowners, stamped concrete delivers a comparable high-end look with lower cost and less ongoing maintenance. If your heart is set on interlocking, we'll tell you that's a fine product too — it's just not what we install.

Reviews

What GTA homeowners say after the job

"They fixed another contractor's mess. The team gave us a set of steps that are both functional and beautiful to look at. People in the area who had seen the first botched job were suitably impressed with the finished work."

Peter · Porch & steps · Oakville

"My 70-year-old garage floor was a broken dusty wreck. They meticulously prepped and poured the new floor. It looked amazing, only to be made more amazing with the epoxy sealer."

Built for this climate

Stamped concrete that survives Toronto winters

Freeze-thaw cycles are what kill concrete in the GTA — stamped or not. The difference between a stamped surface that lasts 5 years and one that lasts 25 comes down to three things we don't compromise on:

Air-entrained mix & proper depth

Exterior pours use air-entrained concrete at a minimum 6 inches for driveways, so freezing water has room to expand without cracking the slab.

Sealed on schedule

A quality sealer is what protects the colour and texture from salt and moisture. We tell you the resealing schedule up front — every 2–3 years — not after something fades.

No de-icing salt, year one

We'll tell you exactly what you can and can't put on new stamped concrete the first winter, in writing, in your quote. Sand yes, salt no.

Already have stamped concrete?

Faded, cracked or flaking stamped concrete can usually be saved

If your existing stamped surface has lost its colour, is flaking at the surface or has cracked, you very likely don't need to replace it. Re-sealing, colour restoration and stamped concrete repair cost a fraction of a re-pour.

Questions

Stamped concrete FAQs

How long does stamped concrete last in Toronto?

A properly installed and maintained stamped concrete surface lasts 25+ years in the GTA. The two variables that matter most are installation quality — base prep, mix, depth, curing — and resealing every 2–3 years. Skip the sealing and the colour fades and the surface becomes vulnerable to salt damage much sooner.

Can you stamp over my existing concrete?

Often, yes. If your existing slab is structurally sound — no major cracks through the full depth, no sunken sections — a stamped overlay gives you the decorative finish without demolition, typically at half the cost or less. If the slab has failed, we'll tell you honestly that an overlay would just be an expensive band-aid, and quote the replacement instead.

Is stamped concrete slippery?

The stamped texture itself provides grip, and for pool decks and sloped areas we add a non-slip additive to the sealer. Tell us how the surface will be used and we'll match the finish — a pool surround gets a different treatment than a covered porch.

Stamped concrete or interlocking — which is cheaper?

Stamped concrete typically comes in 20–40% below interlocking pavers installed, and costs less to maintain — no joint sand, no weed control, no re-levelling individual stones. Interlocking's one genuine advantage is that a single damaged stone can be swapped out.

When can stamped concrete be installed?

Exterior stamped work in the GTA runs roughly May through October, when temperatures reliably stay above freezing. New concrete can't freeze for the first several days after pouring. If you call us in late fall, we'll tell you honestly whether to squeeze it in or wait for spring — waiting is often the better pour.

What maintenance does stamped concrete need?

Reseal every 2–3 years, rinse it seasonally, avoid de-icing salt in the first winter. That's essentially it — no joint sanding, no weed spraying, no re-levelling. We'll tell you the exact resealing schedule for your finish in the quote.

Do you offer a warranty on stamped concrete?

Yes — every job carries a written warranty and the terms are in your quote before you sign, not produced afterwards. Overlays carry a 3-year warranty. We also keep photos of every completed job, which protects you if a question ever comes up later.
